Amos: We said goodbye to super senior Amos on the evening of 22 December 2025, a mere two months after his arrival at Leashes End. Amos was listless, his belly distended. We knew something was wrong, so we rushed him to the 24/7 ER at Allied Animal Hospital in Tallahassee. Poor Amos was suffering from bilateral congestive heart failure. He was our first dog from Taylor County Animal Control. We had called the shelter looking for a lost Chihuahua … they told us they had one. He wasn’t the Chi we were looking for, but there was no way we would leave this little guy behind. He was really old, terribly emaciated, and had a face only a rescue could love. Exactly the type of underdog for Leashes End! In his short tenure with us, Amos filled out, thanks to his very healthy appetite. He enjoyed the company of other small dogs and loved the freedom to explore the dog run or relax on a dog bed. He remained wary of people to the end. It’s clear that life had been unkind to this poor fellow. While we could never erase a lifetime of neglect, we did our best to ensure he felt comfortable, safe, and loved in his final chapter. RIP, dear Amos. May your memory be a blessing. Z”L.
